THE CHALLENGE

’Emerging From the Margins: Women’s Experiences in Colonial and Contemporary Nigerian History’ is a narration of historical events that covers a period of almost one hundred years and collects the stories of women who fought for their rights, to make their voices heard. Some of Nigeria’s earliest feminists. The available photography was very limited and differs in style and quality, so the author was looking for e-book cover that represented each women and feel cohesive.

THE SOLUTION

After researching about the each woman and drafting a few layout alternatives that included the yellow trumpet, Nigeria’s national flower as a symbol of prosperity and resilience as well as the flag, I crafted a cover that felt in line with what the author was looking: a minimal visual that stands out and put the focus on the protagonists.

THE RESULT

A stripped back visual with a distinctive style that brings the attention to the women who made a difference history. Following the launch of the e-book, the printed version.
